One of the most critical concerns about the perfect vacation is finding the best transportation at Disney World.

While there are several options, including rideshare, boats, monorail, buses, Skyliner, and more, finding the right one is the problem. Moreover, there are quite a few changes that you will witness as a tourist to Disney World this year.

Read ahead to learn about some of the newest changes in the Disney World transportation system.

What should you know about Transportation at Disney World

Let us start with the change that is already effective this year. It is none other than the Disney World Airport service, the Magical Express. Well, the sad news is that the service is no longer available.

Earlier, it was possible to do airport commute to and from Disney World hotels due to the availability of the Magic Express. It was one of the complimentary services guests received. However, with the unavailability of the Magic Express, guests will now have to think of other options. Some of them are pretty new, too.

The new options, as mentioned above, includes Sunshine Flyer and the Mears Connect shuttle services. You can also avail rideshare, rent cars, hire private cars, or take a taxi. Moreover, there is news that the Minnie vans will come back on the scene. Not to forget mentioning, the Brightline train between the airport and Disney World will finally start operating too.

Return of the pretty Minnie Vans

In terms of Minnie Vans, the year 2022 will see the comeback of this Disney World transportation cum attraction!

Minnie Vans are vehicles with polka dots that you may find on the Lyft app as a ride option. They were popular previous to the park restrictions, but they have yet to reopen.

Changes in the Disney World healthcare system

Another significant change is that guests availing of some kinds of Disney World transportation are no longer required to wear masks.

Masks were needed on the Skyliner, Disney World buses, and the Monorail until recently. However, they were not mandatory on boats for quite some time. Of course, if Disney finds it unsafe, there may be a reinstation of mask requirements and rules.

Trams may come into the picture again

Though sure parking lot trams have returned to Disney World, namely those at the Transportation and Ticket Center, they have not yet returned to the other parks.

While Disney World has not confirmed their return, trams may return to the other three parks as we approach the summer season’s heat and crowds. It is time to cross our fingers!

Get ready for the crowd

Finally, there may be some adjustments in the crowds using public transit. For example, reporters have noted increased crowd levels on the boats at the moment, which we attribute to the fact that the boats do not require masks.

Final thoughts

We anticipate a lesser crowd on boats now that the mask regulations on other modes of transportation don’t apply. However, external influences can significantly impact whatever form of transportation at Disney World people pick. So, there is only one option: wait for more changes to be announced.
