It is possible to increase the flaccid length of your penis , and the flaccid and erect girth of your penis, with penis enlargement surgery

This procedure is nothing new. It has been around for many years. However, in the past ten years Moorgate Andrology have pioneered new techniques to improve the results of the surgery.

What is penis enlargement surgery?

Penis enlargement surgery is essentially a two part operation. Both procedures are performed at the same time. The surgery itself takes just one hour and is performed under general anaesthetic ( this means you are asleep throughout the procedure )

How is penis enlargement surgery performed?

Part 1: Enhancing Flaccid Length

The length of the penis can be made longer because all men have a ligament called a “ suspensory ligament” which is attached to the penis and the pubic bone. The only function of this ligament is to keep the penis upright when it is erect. By dividing the suspensory ligament the penis can be moved forward. This releases an additional one to two inches for most men. The exact size increase cannot be determined precisely before the surgery, however the results are very predictable. 95 % of men will achieve one to two inches increase and 5 % will achieve either a little bit less than one inch or a little bit more than two inches. When the ligament has been divided and the penis is longer, the Urologist must do something to prevent the ligament from reattaching and shortening the penis once again.

In years gone by surgeons relied on a stretching device to do this, but this did rely on patient compliance for the most part. In recent years so called “ silicone buffers” were used to act as a barrier and prevent ligament reattachment. The problem with the silicone buffers was the potential for infection and then the necessity for removal of the implant. In a few cases the buffer could migrate from its intended position and again require removal. In the last two years Moorgate Andrology Urologists have developed a technique where the patients own tissues are used to act as a barrier. This worked perfectly and removes any requirement for an implant. In younger men this avoids the need to have an implant in situ for the rest of their lives.

It should be remembered that this part of the surgery, the ligamentosis surgery, cannot increase the erect length of the penis. The erect length can be improved by using a penile traction device after the surgery. Starting at six weeks post-surgery and using it for one to two hours per day, the penis can increase in erect length. Results do vary of course from patient to patient , but it is always worthwhile to use one to complete the result.

Part 2: Amplifying Girth with Fat Transfer

In terms of penis girth a fat transfer technique is used. Fat is harvested from the belly and inner thighs. Fat is taken from these regions because this is where the best quality fat is located. This fat is then put through a purification system called pure graft . This system removes blood, dead cells and oils from the fat. By doing this we can ensure the best possible survival rate of the fat and also make the fat much easier to work with during the transfer.

In this procedure the maximum amount of fat that the penis can safely take is transferred. In real terms this can be between 50 and 100 mls of fat, even more if the penis can take it. This is done because we know that even though we have purified the fat, still about 30 to 50 % of the fat will absorb in the first three months. This is perfectly normal and always happens. Following this initial absorption, the remaining fat gathers its own blood supply and then becomes living tissue, and is then considered permanent.

Post-Surgery Care

After the surgery it is important to carry out a regular massage regime to keep the transferred fat nice and symmetrical up and down the penis shaft. This is simple exercise that takes just one to two minutes three or four times per day after going for a pee. In uncircumcised men the foreskin often gets quite tight at first. This is normal and due to the volume of fat injected. As the weeks go by this usually resolves.

It is very important to avoid strenuous exercise for six weeks after the surgery. Similarly, no sexual activity for six weeks too. It takes time for everything to settle down.
